This is the first post of this blog, so I think there should be something about what the purpose of this blog is. We are a few PhD students at ILPS, the Information and Language Processing group at University of Amsterdam.
In this blog we want to discuss questions about "doing research" and about being a PhD student in general. We also want to collect links to resources we find useful.

Originally, I wanted to see this as place to discuss more about "doing research" and less about being a PhD student. The direct consequence of this would be to allow other young researchers at ILPS to participate. Which will btw enrich our (PhDs) resources, though might interrupt the closed circle of like minded (aka thesis oriented) people.
What are your (all current members) ideas on this? We could also stay "closed" for a while and then decide to expand :) Actually this is my preference now :)

I don't really have a fixed idea of who should contribute to this blog. It's an experiment so I think I like your idea to see how this develops and maybe decide to expand later on.
I think everybody can leave comments to posts as long as they have a google account.
